This CHRISTIAN BIBLE STUDY is under the theme, “The Role of God’s Church in the Community.” In this MelVee Sabbath School lesson discussion, join Wellington Mpofu, Frank Awuah, and Nozipho van Heerden as they review LESSON 2, on Restoring Dominion. Indeed we were created for dominion, its our privilege to to dominate and within our boundaries and subdue the earth.
At his creation, Adam was placed in dominion over the earth. No question, after the Fall, human beings lost very much, including the “dominion” that we originally had been given. But by yielding to temptation, man was brought under the power of Satan, and the dominion which he held passed to his conqueror. At the Fall, our first parents lost more than just their original image of God. We believe that by the sin of man, the earth came under the control of the wicked one, and needs to be restored by God’s plan of redemption. Thus Satan became ‘the god of this world.’ He had usurped that dominion over the earth which had been originally given to Adam. But Christ, by His sacrifice paying the penalty of sin, would not only redeem man, but recover the dominion which he had forfeited. All that was lost by the first Adam will be restored by the second Adam.
Watch this lesson to find out what it meant when humans were first given dominion over the earth? What was this lost dominion all about? Also find out what the church can do to restore and regain some of what was lost after the tragic fall of our first parents in Eden. Find out how we can reflect God’s image in the way we interact with others and the way we care for His creation.
